Tried to file my taxes, but it did not go through because it was a duplicate ssn, what do I do if someone I don't know used my ssn to file taxes? How do i get my refund?

I tried to efile, I put in all my correct information.  The transaction was rejected because someone else used my ssn to file.  I don't know what to do,.

This is my first time filing taxes, so I should not have a record for the year I tried to file for or the year before.

You will have to print and mail your return, sorry.  The IRS will determine who is able to claim your ssn.

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

You cannot get past a rejected e-file when there is a duplicate SSN so you will have to print, sign and file your return by mail instead.  Use a mailing service that will track it like certified mail so you will know the IRS received it.   Expect it to take 6 to 9 months to be processed due to the severely backlogged IRS.   Make sure you send federal and state returns to separate addresses in separate envelopes.

This is your first time to file a return?  Who claimed you before?   Maybe your parents forgot to take you off of their return?  Or you still qualify as a dependent?  Did you ask around if anyone claimed you?  Or it could just be an honest mistake.  Maybe someone else typed a ssn wrong on their return and got yours.
