The Turbo Tax program did not ask me to complete the form 1095A for my Obamacare premium information. Should it have?

Yes.

To enter/edit health information or a 1095-A:

1. Open your return (or continue if open).

2. Type “health insurance” or “1095a” (upper-case works too) in Search box (upper right-hand corner of the screen)

3. Click on “Jump to health insurance” or “Jump to 1095a” link.

4. Answer screen interview prompts.

I'm afraid I will be in the same situation they did not ask about the 1095 I searched everywhere to put it in and it never asked now they are saying that you do not need to let the IRS know if you had insurance but you do need to put in a 1095 why TurboTax did not ask I have no clue now I know my refund will probably be delayed do you know if we should go ahead and send in the 1095 form and if so how do you do that. thank you for any help. I tried calling TurboTax and after six times I was finally able to get someone on the phone who told me I would have to pay to get assistance

What if I called and they told me about form 1095-A  and 8962, but they never sent me a letter they just told me about it?

The IRS will send you a letter to the last address it has on you. This is true whether they tell you about the Form 8962 missing from your return or not.

If you do get a 12C letter from the IRS, here are the instructions to produce a Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit.

For 2019 use these instructions to generate a Form 8962:

  1.  Sign In to Turbo Tax
  2.  Click Tax Home, in the upper left. Scroll down to Your Returns and Documents
  3.  If you do not see options under that heading, look to the right and click on Show
  4.  Make sure the correct year is underlined in blue
  5.  Select Amend (change) return and then Amend Using Turbo Tax Online
  6.  Do not click continue on the “We’ll help you change (amend) your return” screen. Simply go to the left menu and
  7. Click on the Federal and then
  8. Click on Deduction and Credits in the upper portion of the page.
  9. Scroll down and click on Medical, Show More.
  10. Choose Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A) by clicking on Start or  Revisit
  11. Enter your 1095-A form and generate an 8962 form.
  12. Click through the ACA section
  13. Select Tax Tools, on the left menu
  14. Select the Print Center
  15.  Print, save, or preview this year’s return and click in the box to select federal returns
  16. Click on View or Print Forms to print the forms you need
  17. You can view the forms from here and select just to print the pages with
  18.  Form 8962 and Form 1040 (if needed)

Same thing happened to me this year.  I just received my letter today.  I didn't file the 1095 because it didn't ask for it this year.  I didn't think it was necessary since It wasn't required to have insurance this year and now I have to send the forms to the IRS they froze my refund.  And since I do my daughters taxes also I'm assuming hers will be frozen.  I am beyond angry.  I've used tax act for the previous 5 years, switched to turbo last year because of references from friends.  Beyond since I paid over $300 for both tax filings!

Please follow the instructions to fill out form 8962. It will not require you to amend your return. You will only be using the add state workaround. The IRS is requesting Form 8962 for 2019 - Community

That link says to click on my name and then click on messages, I see nothing that says my name to click on, nothing to click on for messages.  After signing into turbo tax it tells me what my refund is, but I'm one of the many who need to send in my 1095A and I'm trying to find out if I can navigate through turbo tax to be able to fill and print out the 8962 but I can't find any links.

I tried following all these steps, but then it doesn't let me click on Federal because Federal only shows for one second then disappears and no matter how i back it up or start over I can't get the Federal to show on the sidebar anymore!! What is going on

I paid 30 dollars for Turbo Tax and would like to follow all these instructions - I am logged in but there is not an icon with my name to click on so I can't follow these instructions that keep getting posted over and over - my turbo tax opening page shows what my refund is since I already filed - i need to get the 8962 filled out through turbo tax and having no luck clicking everywhere
