Software won't transmit without updating. There is no updates so not able to e-file. Is there an issue that you cant e-file?

I had the same problem over and over and over. Tried all the suggestions and nothing worked. The only way I was able to transmit was to uninstall Turbotax and then reinstall it. Worked on first try. Hope this helps.

I'm also having this issue. There are no updates and when I click "Check for updates," it says that no updates are available. But then, I have the same issue again.

Sometimes you will get the update message when forms for your federal or state return are not ready or eligible for efiling. Please click here to check forms availability.

I was able to transmit my first Tax return about a week ago using them same forms.  This time when I went to transmit my second tax return it was telling me I had to update.  But no update available.  The second return I am trying to do has less forms and even simpler than the first.  Any other idea on the issue?

Are you saying your second state return? Or a second return that is for someone else? Only one return can be filed for each tax year, but each return can include multiple states. If you are having trouble with updates and are using a Windows system, please click here for some tips. If you prefer to speak with an agent, please click here to get in contact with customer care. Please be sure to enter the correct product, edition, and a detailed description of your issue. If you see a message that says "We can't find an answer to your issue", please click the "Try Something Else" drop down. Once you fill out the form you will be given a service ticket number and a phone number to contact customer care.

No, I am saying that I completed my own taxes a few weeks agousing the on-line software( which was supposed to be free but wasn't) and e-filed with no problems.  TODAY, I helped my daughter do her taxes and her son's taxes, on the turbo-tax CD we purchased. When completed we tried to e-file, but a message came up inidicating that there was an update, and we followed directtions to update.  Then we tried to e-file again, same message.  After numerous times of updating and attempts to e-file, I restarted my computer.  Same results.  I believe the problem is with Intuit/Turbo tax , because a lot of people are having problems e-filing their taxes.

I am having the same issue. If so many people are having the same problem, why don't you have a solution?

I am having the same problem, transmitted federal return with no problem. State return will not transmit, receive update message. Have been on the phone with support 3 times, manually update 3 times, and uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times no help. More than frustrating it is obvious a problem exist Turbo Tax cant fix. Supposedly a incident report sent but have received no reply. This is second year in a row I have had software problems guarantee will not be a third year will never buy another Turbo Tax product.

Having same issue....receive message " There is an update available for your version of  TurboTax.  Before you can file electronically you'll need to get this update.  To do this, go to Online menu and select Check for Updates".

When I do this it tells me there are no updates yet it still won't let me transmit my filing.

First attempt with support was a joke.  They actually told me to clear the cache in my browser...Duh...this is not a browser based application.   They also told be to restart my computer.

Nothing works and based on other submissions,

@Jac-13264 Please click here if you have a Windows PC and please click here if you have a MAC. These links will help with force or manually updating the software. If this does not work, please click here to get in contact with customer care. Tell the agent on the phone that it is a known issue and that the solution is to first push a federal download and then push the state.

Are you even reading what is said here most everyone including me  have spent hours on the phone with support, done every suggestion 3 or 4 times with no solution to the problem. Your response just verifies how totally incompetent support for this flawed product is.

its been two weeks since last post.  Is anything going to be done about this error in your updating or software?  Seems like a version mismatch between forms downloaded and forms on your site.  Send this to technical support and let an engineer work it out.

I transmitted federal.  State will NOT transmit because your program says it is not up to date.

Your program reports there are no updates and the software is updated.  At this point you are obstructing the filing of many tax returns.

It is March already. This should not still be happening.  Fix it and let people know what to do.

If you call customer support they may be able to have a state return pushed to you. Please refer to the article below to contact support.

I had the same problem.  I called support and they suggested I reboot the computer (I should have thought of this).   When I did Turbotax restarted and said there were updates.  I told it to update and it did.   The everything worked.   When I was in the program and tried to update from "online" like note said to do it didn't work.  But shutting down and restarting worked like a charm.

I had this issue and was on the phone with a representative for over an hour. I was on the internet and the representative was able to see my screen. Nothing was wrong with my software or my computer or Turbo Tax's server. I had internet connection.

The issue turned out being my internet connection. It's a good possibility my WIFI router needed its software updated. I activated the hot spot on my phone and connected my computer to my phone. Then I opened Turbo Tax and the software automatically found the required update.

I recommend updating the firmware on your WIFI router if you have done everything else.
