I selected that I got married in 2017 but I actually got married in December 2016. Can I leave it as is or how do I change it because I can not seem to get back to that question and I would hate to have to redo it all

That error should not affect your tax liability so just leave it.

It changed the amount of my refund which is giving me more than it first showed so that's why I was unsure if I will than be audited for it or what will happen

If you were married on Dec 31, you are considered married for the entire year. So if you married in 2016 or in 2017 you are considered married for tax year 2017.
