Passive loss carryovers -- what to transfer from the prior year's tax return?

Hello,

I would like to know what exactly I need to look up from my 2021 tax return to move it to this year's in this box:

(the help is too vague, it just reads, "sch E.")

For QBI Carryovers, I am pretty sure I need to move Form's 8995 line 16, right?

How about the first two?

Thanks.

form 8582 Part VII and there may be the same form for AMT purposes dorm qbi form 8995 line 16

assuming this is your only passive activity

I think I have found the answer to my own question, so I'm posting it here in case it is useful to others:

I opened TurboTax 2021 and went to Forms > Open Form and entered "Capital Loss Carryforward Worksheet" and found exactly those two columns: "Regular Tax" and "Alternative Minimum Tax."

Line 8 reads "Short-term capital loss carryforward to 2021."

Line 13 reads "Long-term capital loss carryforward to 2022."

Sweet!

@lameri

NOOOOOOO ....  passive losses are NOT the same as capital losses ... you are looking in the wrong place.

Look at form 8582 as already mentioned :

Thanks for responding.

I do not have that form for 2021.

I have seen it in a prior return of mine (2020), but it did not contain a "part VII," just up to "party IV."

OK, thanks for letting me know although, no worries because I found 0 in both columns 🙂

But I still wouldn't know where to look for those two (regular and AMT).

Then you had no loss carrying over ... it was used up or released in 2021.

Thanks, but I do not have part VII...

I mean, for 2021 I don't even have the form itself. For 2020 I do have the form, but only until part IV.

Are there any other carryovers I should be aware of (besides the 3 mentioned in my post)?

There would have been two 8582 forms  in the return ... one marked AMT and one not.
