Overcharged and Turbotax won't refund

I was overcharged $209 for "TurboTax" premium and they are now refusing to give me a refund. I was filing my taxes and accidentally signed up for Premium. I asked TurboTax customer service to downgrade me, to which I was told:

TurboTax Customer Support: Justin E

I just finished the process. You should receive an email with a voucher code to downgrade your version of turbotax.

During checkout - I submitted this "voucher code", and it told me "voucher code accepted". When I went to checkout and place the order, the final cost wasn't visible anywhere. I then asked customer service AGAIN if this was correct, shouldn't i be able to see the cost before I checkout?

Let's continue through, where we add our card information. The code looks like it was accepted we will be able to check on the receipt. I don't know why its not updating for you on that screen there.

I was explicitly told to pay anyways. The portal charged me the full premium plan amount. Now in addition to the $1500 in taxes I owe, TurboTax is trying to steal another $209 from its customer.

You needed service code not voucher but since already paid you can call and ask for refund and might get it if you paid with a credit card.  It depends on how nice and how smart the agent is who answers the call.  Good luck.  If you keep trying you might find the right agent.  If you paid with your refund then they cannot refund anything.

I was given and used the service code, however when I called customer service they still said "nothing they can do".  Apparently via Better Business Bureau this is something TurboTax pulls all the time and never refunds clients.

Please feel free to contact Customer Support so they can assist you. You will want to use the keywords billing issues when you call so you get to the right person.

Same thing happened to me.  When I told the rep that it didnt give me a price before I paid, they didn't believe me.  I won't use the product again.  That is poor customer service after 15 years of using the product.

You need to read each screen and understand what is on the screen before clicking to next screen.   You need to understand the price before agreeing to pay with a credit card or with your refund.

Again, the screen did not appear with the total bill before I submitted.  Actually, I backed out of it twice and tried to find how much it was going to cost me.  As the person stated in the original post, it didnt show the amount.  I have never paid over $50 per year for TurboTax for about 15 years.   I never had any problems previously.   After backing out and trying to get to a payment page, I didnt worry about it too much because I had never been charged so much before.  I

I has exact same problem, they upped me to Premium wth live help without my knowledge.  I called and told the rep that she could see I did not use live help and did not need premium.  She went to the standard excuse of they now charge extra for some forms but I did not have any extra forms since my taxes are straight forward.   It is ridiculous that I was charged MORE than for a service where a TurboTax person does my taxes.  With federal, state, taxes, I paid over $226.00.  There was no reason the rep could provide and she told me to write in.  I did, no response in 6 weeks.

I tried to report them to BBB but Intuit was subject of a lawsuit for overcharging.  I am done with them.  I do taxes for five other family members and I am moving all of us to HR Block next year.

Turbo Tax said it was free ...start taxes and I did not want to pay $209 for online live advice nor did i access or get it. I sdid my taxes the same as i have always done them and now in order to complete my taxes they are saying i used this service which i did not and I want a refund

Here's how to Contact TurboTax Support.  Use 'Billing' in the phone menu options to request a refund.

If Intuit continues to give you the run around, contact your local TV station's Ombudman and ask for help.

Most TV stations have a person who works with viewers to overcome intransigent businesses.
