My standard deduction is not showing up in turbotax. Therefore, my federal tax is calculating from my gross income.

my W-2 gross income is $100K (Line#1 of W2). I am married so my taxable income should be 76K (100K-24K). But turbo tax is calculating Federal Tax based on 100K.  Isn't my tax should be calculated based on 76K?

Look on line 9 of your Form 1040.

Your standard deduction lowers your taxable income.  It is not a refund.

2019 Standard Deduction Amounts

Single $12,200   (+ $1650 65 or older)

Married Filing Separate  $12,200   (+ $1300 if 65 or older)

Married Filing Jointly $24,400   (+ $1300 for each spouse 65 or older)

Head of Household $18,350  (+ $1650 for 65 or older)

Look at your tax return Form 1040.  Taxes are calculated on your taxable income Line 11b.  The taxes are on Line 12a and total tax on Line 12b.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
