There is no reason that it will not work now.

I downloaded it again today and it still won't open.

The app downloads well.  I get a message that Apple finds no malicious software. When I try to open the app I get a message saying " Please wait while we verify everything is up to date..." and then it quits.

if you get the message "TurboTax cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software" then that is caused by the Apple "Gatekeeper" introduced with OS X 10.15 (Catalina).

That has nothing to do with TurboTax and will happen for any application not purchased from the Apple Store.

See this Apple article on this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491

And this TurboTax help article: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/troubleshooting/help/turbotax-for-mac-won-t-open-when-installed/00/26611

For older Mac systems when TurboTax will not open.
See:

Be sure that System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General -> Allow apps downloaded from App Store and identified developers is checked.

Go to the Applications folder and select the TurboTax application in the Finder and right click with the mouse (or control click) ans select the top "open". That should force the first open. After that it should open normally.

I installed the 2019 version on Big Sur and it appears to run fine.

My problem is that Turbotax Deluxe 2020 takes a very long time to open. It seemed to install easily. I timed how long it takes to open - 6 minutes 20 seconds. At that point my data file hasn't opened yet - that takes another 4-5 minutes. Once open, the data file works normally. Is there a problem with Turbotax & Mac OS Big Sur?

Never heard of that.   Suggest a restart of your computer and/or use the Utilities -> Activity Monitor to see CPU usage and memory usage.  Other running applications might be hogging the processor and/or using the available memory that forces memory swaps and extreme slow running.

Has anyone in this thread installed Turbotax Home & Business 2020 on a Mac w/Big Sur and, if so, does it work????

I'm having the same exact problem and it's driving me crazy.

I installed TT 2020 on two different Mac's.  One running Mojave that took about 3-5 mins. to install using the disk and the other running BiG Sur took 30 mins.  On Big Sur it wants to load every file file from the disk very slowly.  When done all works but why it is so slow is beyond me.

Installing from a CD only requires mounting the .dmg disk image file and then copying the application to the applications folder, both of which are built in Mac OS features for mounting any CD and has nothing to do with the CD contents.   The Mac "diskmounter" and copy processes do that.  If VERY slow the  I would suspect many re-read attempts that can be due to a defective or margional CD or CD drive.

I agree what you state but it did not do that.  I used two different drives on two different Mac's and worked the same way.  When I installed with Mojave it acted just as you stated,

I see in Mac forums that many Big Sur users are very unhappy with the slowness and many have reverted back to Catalina until Apple has a solution.

That's exactly what happened to me. I was using the disk to install TurboTax & it was taking forever. I finally gave up, stopped the installation & downloaded TurboTax from the website. I just figured it was a problem with my disk drive or the disk itself. Having read your experience, I think Big Sur caused the problem.

And the issues continue now that I have TurboTax installed. Sometimes the program opens normally & other times it takes 6-10 minutes or doesn't open at all.

I'm having the same problem ... I finally let it just run while I wandered thru the forum and it finally came up with the screen asking for the license code ... I entered that and was presented with a window that said something like "ok, let's get started" and clicked the "Get started" button ... it's been a while and is still spinning ... will just leave it alone while I go do other things and see if it ever actually launches

ps, I'm running Big Sur 11.1

I left it running and if finally launched!  Will be interesting to see if it takes this long in the future.  If this is simply the amount of time it takes to install might a suggest adding some sort of status bar to inform the user of progress?

Is there confirmation that Turbotax will now run under Big Sur OS?

Not as far as I know. Neither TurboTax/Intuit nor Apple is doing a very good job communicating about this.

Many users are successfully running TurboTax on Big Sur.  Some are finding extremely slow operation, but that appears to be an issue with Big Sur and not TurboTax because the same issue exists for non-TurboTax applications.     (Some Big Sur users have gone back to Catalina.)

I run many applications with Big Sur but only TT has caused me any issues.
