Last year I used the TurboTax client software due to a problem with the online version (Deluxe). This year online is working but appears to be missing my 2019 data.

When the 2020 online program shows certain deductions and credits and gives a comparison to last year, the amounts for last year are $0which I know is incorrect. Is there a way to import the 2019 data from the client software so that the online TurboTax Deluxe has correct data for comparison purposes? All I found was a way to upload a document (PDF).

The link provided below allows you to transfer last year's return into your 2020 tax return. Please let us know if this helps:

I followed the link and this appears to be the process IF I were using the desktop client for 2020 taxes. I'm using the online version instead. Will this allow import into the online 2020 TurboTax Deluxe, or do I need to use the Windows client software instead? If the latter, is downloading the 2020 Deluxe client free given I paid already for online TurboTax Deluxe?

You can download your 2019 return as a .tax file, and then upload it into the software.

If you did download the 2020 downloadable program you would need to pay for the download.
