Just got a text that my tax return was rejected, how long does it take to get the email stating why it was rejected?

The email should also be sent fairly quickly.  If you did not get it for some reason, you can simply log in to your TurboTax account, select Fix My Return, and then you will be able to see the reject code and the action you need to take to fix it.

For more information, see the following TurboTax article: How do I fix a rejected return?

AnnetteB6,

Thank you for your answer.

Not sure where I should say this but I will try it here.

The return was rejected because the return MUST be filed by paper and cannot be filed electronically, at least that is what Queen told me when I spoke with her at TurboTax this morning. It was a return that I filed for my Brother and his wife. My Brother died on 12/13/2019.  When I filed the return today it was rejected because it could not verify the AGI for 2018 although I know it was entered correctly. So, I called TurboTax this morning and spoke to Queen and she told me that when a spouse dies the return for the year in which the spouse dies must be filed by paper, that is why the rejection. Sure would have been nice if TurboTax would have told me that up front when I tried to file the return electronically.  Would have saved me many hours of work and research.  The false rejection caused a lot of extra work.  Please fix the program for next year to reflect this problem.  Thank You, John Peterson
