If you have not received a W-2 form by now, it is time to get the IRS involved. The instructions below will give directions on how to contact the IRS and how to complete a substitute W-2 form.

He has his W-2 we filed in February. The IRS is the ones waiting for the employer to send it to them. To verify that it's correct.. can I do anything..

Do you know for certain that the IRS has not received the W-2 form?

IRS takes until Sept-Oct to process all the information documents.  So they could have it, just their system in not ready yet, so they have some folks to call employers on certain returns. Did you receive an IRS letter?

If so, use the contact information on the letter to inquire if you can send in paystubs to verify.

I've been on hold since February finally broke down and called tax advocate with IRS and he looked and said they are waiting on a W-2 from last employer.

Ok. Can you contact the employer yourself? Or ask the advocate if you can send paystubs to the IRS to verify.
