We're receiving this error, which makes no sense, as we have the physical 1099 and have confirmed with NMIS that it should be importing:
You can ask the financial institution if you'll get this form, and return to import it when it's available.
If you already have the info, you can enter it by hand. (902)
None that we have been made aware of. You first want to ensure that you are selecting the correct financial institution per the Turbo Tax approved Import Partners list. Some have similar sounding names and can cause discrepancies when attempting to import from one vs the other. Please also review this resource for further details.
I have the same issue with NMIS. I've verified the data is available from NMIS, but get a message from Turbo Tax that there is no tax data available. To me, the option on turbo tax to import seems like a typo - Northwestern Mutual Inv SvsaE"NMIS
There are no other NMIS options. Any thoughts?
Please see our Help Article which provides additional troubleshooting steps for importing your 1099.
Thx for the info. I've validated what's in the Help article. Northwestern confirmed data is available. It looks like a login takes place as when I put in a wrong password I get an errot message. When I use the right one I get a message that no tax data is available. In past years there were a couple NMIS options to choose from to import data. This year there is only one and it looks like there are typos in it. Perhaps that's correct, but it doesn't look right. That said, it does look like a logon takes place. It would appear like the handshake isn't taking place to allow the import to complete. My Wells Fargo import worked just fine.
Does the import process parse the 1099 or does it look to pick up a data set with the 1099 info in it? The 1099 is on the NMIS site. I can see it and download it. It does look like the ID and pw are accepted as the message I get is tax data is not available. When I try a different pw, I get an invalid ID or pw error message. NMIS tells me that everything turbo tax needs is now available. I also was able to get my Wells Fargo data so it's not an issue where nothing is working. There's something between NMIS and turbo tax.
How long ago did Northwestern Mutual have your 1099 for availability? Was it within the past 48 hours? @sjtien44
I am having the same problem. Northwestern mutual blames turbotax. TurboTax says it isn’t their issue. I am able to do upload the info from a NWM brokerage account but not a NWM managed account.
If you are using TurboTax Online, you may want to try a different browser or try clearing out your browser's cache and cookies. Please see How do I delete cookies? and How to clear your cache for more information.
Please see What if I can't import my 1099? and be sure to review the Troubleshooting section for instructions.
If you need additional assistance, please feel free to contact Customer Support so you can speak with a TurboTax representative who can assist you.
I had tried that already. Doesn’t matter. I am not using on-line version.
It is up to date. If I have to manually enter the data then I would like a refund on the Premier Software. Very poor response.
not working for me either, tried uploading the pdf and qr code screen shot. it wont take it. I tried doing it manually and it asks all kinds of questions i don't have the answer too.
If you are having trouble uploading it, you can click here to contact us by phone. @arkhockey
GREAT POINT!!!!!! We are paying for the software to download our 1099 Forms for us and fill out the tax document.
If we have to manually enter financial information into TurboTax...... when its supposed to do it for us.... and it won't........ then lower the Price of Premier down to the price of the Standard Version of TT.
