Is the 2017 Turbo Tax Deluxe software capable of estimating 2018 federal taxes consistent with the new tax bill? If yes, how?

Not yet. As you know, the software is updated periodically but there is no official timeline to incorporate all the changes from the most recent law. Please review the following TurboTax link(s) and the link(s) embedded on the webpage(s) for more information:

Please confirm that when the software is updated the method to use to estimate 2018 federal taxes is go to the 1040-es, estimated tax for next year section of Turbo Tax

Confirmed. Please see the following TurboTax FAQ but you may ignore Step 1 if you're using TurboTax CD/Download: https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900683-how-do-i-print-estimated-tax-vouchers-for-my-2018-taxes.

Thank you. How will I know when the 2017 Turbo Tax is updated to allow estimating 2018 federal taxes?

In the TurboTax CD/Download software, you may select Online > View Installed Updates. The following TurboTax FAQ should also provide the updates: https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/3169946-turbotax-2017-release-notes-for-windows-personal-tax-software. However, it may not be 1 update...it could be more than 1 update.

Please advise what wording to look for - will it say 1040-es? Thank you.

Regarding my last comment: will it specifically say 2018 1040-es?
