Please review the information below if it applies to your W-2:

My W-2 imported incorrect information

In some rare situations, your imported W-2 may have discrepancies compared to the paper copy of the W-2 you received from your employer

Resolution

Prior to importing a W-2, TurboTax will populate with the following message:

Please carefully review all the imported information before you submit your tax return! You must verify the imported data is correct by comparing it to the printed W-2 you received.

If you haven't yet filed your return electronically or printed your return to mail and noticed a discrepancy, please carefully review all the imported information before submitting your tax return and correct the amount(s) using what's listed on your physical paper copy of your W-2 received from your employer.

If you've electronically filed your return, you may need to wait for the return to be accepted or rejected by the IRS.

If accepted, you'll need to amend the return (1040X) to correct the discrepancy using your physical W-2.

If your file is rejected, you can make the corrections needed to fix the rejection and the W-2 to file the return again.

The 1040X form for 2019 hasn't been approved yet by IRS. Please, keep checking the following information on how to amend your return; it will be updated once the 2019 form is released:
