I tried to import the 1099s from E*Trade as I have in the past using my etrade username and password. TurboTax says connecting with E*Trade and a box with a yellow exclamation point comes up with the message
E*trade from Morgan Stanley:
1099 Forms Unavailable For User
I have downloaded this from Etrade in pdf format. It became available 2-18-2025. Anybody else have info about this?

Same. It will most likely take a few days for the import.
Just a follow-up. I tried the import again today 2-21-25 and it worked. It appears the import files are now available at E*Trade.
Has this issue been resolved? I am having the same problem as of today, 2025-02-23.
Thanks!
Any update here? I report a similar problem earlier this week where I am unable to import my tax documents from ETrade. There are no error message, just the button to continue is not visible.
This seems to be a problem not just for Etrade. The import function just dont work. I have TurboTax Premier on Mac, please provide an update and ETA on the fix
Thanks for this! My forms became available today and will not import from E*trade Morgan Stanley into Turbo Tax, but my guess is it will just take another day or two. Fingers crossed.
Same Here, tried turbo tax support their suggestion just put it in manually. Yeah sure its only 28 pages long.
E trade said try again tomorrow, even though the forms are available for download they might not be in the servers for transfer yet.
I just wish the error message could be more helpful. It just sort of makes a sound and nothing happens and the text points you to turning on third party sharing (although that text was there before authenticating).
Still not working for me this morning.
If you are using TurboTax Online, try importing using a different browser.
See the following TurboTax Help articles for potential fixes:
Same here, But a little progress. I tried importing from a different firm and that worked. However that process for logging in was different That one opens a browser page and wants you to log into intuit 1st and then takes you to the login page for that firm through a browser page where you would login for that firm. Where as the Etrade logs in directly through the turbotax program. We can't be the only ones having this issue. I am hoping in a couple days whose ever issue it is, be it putting the file in the place where the program can find it or the program starts looking the right place is resolved.
Have you logged into your Morgan Stanley account and turned on Third party sharing via the security center?
Yes it was enabled already. Some background Last year there was also an issue with Etrade but they were in middle of merging with Morgan Stanley, the issue was eventually resolved, but who knows maybe now that the dust has settled things got moved around again.
Not using online, using the mac application.
Yes, third party access has been enabled.
The behavior is the same as it was before the 1099 was ready, so I'm assuming although the 1099-consolidated PDF is available now, the file Turbo Tax needs is not there yet.
What would be helpful, Turbo Tax, is if you could reach out to E*Trade and ask them when they will make the file available.
It would also be helpful to get a useful error message like "no file found" instead of just making a noise and doing nothing.
Very annoying. Many complaints but TurboTax does not act or respond.
Will be finding a new Tax software to use.
My 1099B is 84 pages, not entering manually and do not want to put all that in the mail if I use summary numbers.
Need fast action from TurboTax support.
It should be noted that if all of your transactions are covered, you do not need to mail your 1099-B.
What happens if you change your password for ETrade (or Morgan Stanley)? Sometimes TurboTax doesn't like some symbols in passwords and I have seen this work for others. Try that and let me know if that works.
Unfortunately, there are some transactions in non covered so need to now mail the IRS the entire 1099B of 84 pages.
Update today the import worked for etrade for me, so somebody must have fixed something.
Just tried again. Nothing. Says establishing secure connection and then stops.
Worse than yesterday when I was able to see 1099INT and 1099DIV forms for multiple accounts.
Today, nothing at all showing.
I believe TurboTax does updates on Thursdays.
I just came across this from another user: What fixed it for me was a security setting under Windows Settings, Network & Internet, Advanced Network Settings, Internet Options, Security tab. Mine had defaulted to a Medium High security zone. I changed it to Medium and that fixed it.
Sorry to have you keep trying things, but I'm trying to find solutions. Can you let me know if this works @mercjam?
Thanks for providing suggestions. I use desktop version on a Mac.
Didn't have issue with CharlesSchwab accounts, only Etrade.
However, Etrade technical customer service insists it is not their problem and is a TT software issue.
TT customer service insists nothing wrong with the software, need to wait as the download file connection is not available the same time that I can manually download the forms from Etrade's website, and need to give it a few days.
Thanks again for ideas though!
@CatinaT1 that didn't work for me either. I am in the same boat as @mercjam
I even tried using my phone as an internet connection since someone else posted that worked for them. I don't think it's a firewall issue.
1099-Consolidated showed up Wednesday. Hoping it would work in a couple of days but it's been a couple of days now and still nothing.
@mercjam if you enter any sales with adjustments (wash sales, AMD etc) or noncovered as "one by one" with the detail it will generate Form 8949 and no mailing of your 1099-B should be needed. Reduce your summary entries by the corresponding amounts and remove any adjustment codes and it will all be consolidated on Schedule D. If you don't have many of these sales requiring the detail then you should be able to manually input your 1099-B very quickly and without mailing anything.
@baldietax Thank you, good suggestion. However most of the transactions do have adjustments.
Will just print and mail the 1099B and hope it does not get lost.
Thanks all for your ideas. Maybe TurboTax will fix the issue before next year.
