Import cryptocurrency information to desktop version of turbotax premier ?

Only TurboTax Online has support for crypto.

TurboTax CD/download can only import a 1099-B from a partnering financial institution.

This might work

Use TurboTax Online to start your return, and import crypto.

Then download your tax return to your computer as a .tax2019 file.

If you bought  CD/Download program you should be able to open that file and continue on.

Can we download the tax file without paying?

No you do not. Here is how you can download your .tax file if you have previously filed with Turbo Tax.

if you want to switch from Online to CD/download and did not pay yet,  you can do it as I said.

The file would only be openable by the CD-download program which you pay for.
