the income is duplicated for me and my wife even if she didn't make any money. Is that correct?
My return is rejected because after I entered my AGI for last year it is saying the AGi for my spouse is incorrect. We files together and only have one AGi. Some people from previous years with the same problem are saying to enter 0, is that still the case?
Yes, when filing as Married Filing Jointly the AGI is the same for each spouse.
I filed a joint tax return recently with my wife and entered same AGI for both; however, my tax return got rejected due to "The spouse's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year doesn't match IRS records". what can I do? any help?
Turbo Tax has an option, where it allows you to fix that issue. Check your email or in the note you received about the rejection of tax return. They will take you step by step, but basically you check your 2015 AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) number, usually is line "37" on the form 1040. Once you check that number, then compare it to the AGI number that was submitted when you did your 2016 taxes. Hopefully, that will help you out.
I have entered the correct, from line 37, AGI information for both us on a joint return and it is still getting rejected.
I am in the same situation.. Did any of you get this problem fixed? I am giving the exact AGI in my last years tax return. It is still getting rejected.
This is good news, thanks for replying, Anilmandru. The bad news is that the Turbotax directs are totally misleading. I had the idea of using 0 (since my wife had no income last year) but I forgot about it after reading these directions. I will follow your advice next year. Too bad for Turbotax. We pay for this service, it should come with a warranty.

This is a 2 year old question and the IRS rules are totally different for 2016.
I just tried this today morning and it worked for me as well.. @manel i dont think u can enter it as 0 next year... the only reason i entered 0 was .. last year.. my wife status was with ITIN. this year she has a ssn. I believe the automatic system is not able to match the SSN and ITIN and expecting 0. Ideally, if we file jointly we should enter the primary person's AGI if the spouse is not employed..
Same for me as well. My wife had ITIN last year and got her SSN in 2017. The automatic system expects '0' as ger AGI. Thanks for all the comments here. It helped a lot.
hello i got the same problem when i file for year 2017 tax. i put zero for both for me and for my spouse and t worked. Turbo tax not able to guide me as they tried to guide me step by step and even after putting the correct agi seeing old records it is no use. after submitting more than 4 times i took the advise of the person mentioned here and i put zero and it accepted.
thanks to everyone.
Hey! So last year my wife had a ssn and this year she doesn;t so she used her itn this year and it's not working. Wondering if I use "0" this year will affect it since she will be gettin a ssn next year?
Wow! Just tried this and it worked entering $0 AGI for me and my spouse. LOTS of wasted time and worries and many hours!! Damn you Turbo Tax!!!!
Do you happen to remember if you put 0 for just one or both? Having both the correct AGI is not working.
Please see below for information about entering a correct AGI and getting an e-file reject.
shoulb me and my wifes agi be the same if we filed jointly
@Marbeltaxes1983 Where do I find my AGI?

Your 2018 tax return shows your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) If you filed a joint return then the AGI is the same for each of you.
Form 1040 line 7
If you are using the same TT account that you used last year, you should also be able to find this number in your Tax Home for 2018
