If the usps converted address doesn’t contain my apartment number, should I still select the “use auto formatted address” option even if it doesn’t contain the number?

I entered my address and have an apartment number I entered. The address that says follows the usps standard format, does not contain my apartment number that I entered. Should I still accept it as a valid address or select the “use manually entered address”?

Use the address that you want the IRS and your state to use if they need to mail you a letter or a check.

I have been struggling with this too.  It recommends using the standardized address “to avoid delays in processing your return” but that doesn’t include my apt number no matter how I try to enter it.  I think the apt number needs to be on there since there are over 200 units in my building, but i also want to avoid delays.  There seems to be no good option here.

If it does not include your apartment number, then do NOT select the USPS format. Your apartment number is more important than the format for USPS.  You can however, go back to your address section in the personal info and update your address to match the format, but leave in your apt. number.
