If filing and I have my W2 would that be the same as the 1040?

The IRS Form 1040 is the federal tax return that is sent to the IRS after the return has been completed.

You enter the 2023 W-2 that you received from your employer on the Form 1040.

The W-2 tax form shows important information about the income you’ve earned from your employer, amount of taxes withheld from your paycheck, benefits provided and other information for the year. You use this form to file your 1040 federal Income Tax Return and  your state taxes.

A 1040 is the tax return form you prepare here to send to the IRS.   If you start entering data in this software you are preparing a Form 1040.   Please look at it so you will know what you are sending to the IRS:
