One of three isn’t qualifying, I’m wondering if the other parent claimed them (against our agreement)
Child tax credit is for ages 17 and below. Maybe your third is older? The program only knows what you tell it, not what someone else has done. Perhaps your income is too high? See What is the Child Tax Credit?
Thank you!
She’s 11, and I only made 10k this year, using 2019 income (15k). When I entered her in it said she was a qualifying dependent, and I’ve never had any issue claiming her. I’m wondering if her other parent collecting the advanced payments could have caused an issue. :(
@kylajurgel No, whatever the other parent did is not affecting the calculations on your tax return.
Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number. If your child was born in 2021make sure you said he lived with you the whole year. There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support. Say NO to that question.
The amount you can get for the child tax credit is on line 28 of your Form 1040. And if you are getting the 3rd EIP for yourself or for a dependent it will be on line 30.
If you are getting earned income credit look on line 27a
