Yes - you do claim SSDI on your return.  If you received SSDI payments in 2019, you should receive a form SSA-1099.  Generally, Social Security Disability Benefits (SSDI) are not taxable unless you have substantial additional income.

To enter your Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Federal > Wages & Income
  2. Scroll down to the Retirement Plans and Social Security section and click on the Start/Revisit box next to Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099).
  3. On the next screen, Social Security Benefits, mark the Yes button and click Continue.
  4. On the screen, Tell Us About the Benefits You Received, mark the box for Social Security benefits (Form SSA-1099)
  5. Enter the figures from the SSA-1099-SM in the boxes that appear and click Continue.
  6. Continue through the screens, entering the requested information.
