I received verification code texts when I was not trying to access my account. Is someone trying to hack my account?

It appears the two factor verification has been triggered. The only responses I see are for people not getting texts. I am hoping work around solutions are not being provided to potential hackers to subvert the two factor verification. I've been a victim of identity theft before with the IRS (I now have to use an IP PIN when I file), so I'm nervous about this.
