Turbotax should indicate the customers clearly, who paid turbotax elsewhere. to download the software. If to pay online for the preparation, should the customers get refund for what they paid elsewhere?
There should have been download instructions with the Costco purchase from the store or in an email if you ordered from Costco's website online. The software is downloaded using these instructions which show the download site:
Which product do you want to use and finish in? If you use Online TurboTax, you should be able to get a refund for the Costco purchase under TurboTax unconditional "60-day moneyback guarantee" for the desktop software. If you choose to stay in Online TurboTax, we can tell you how to use the online refund request form to request a refund for your Costco product. I would first ask Costco if they will take it back and refund it (they may not) but that would be the fastest/easiest way. Otherwise, you could use the online form to request a refund directly from TurboTax.
On the other hand, if you want to switch from Online TurboTax to using the desktop software you bought, you can download your *.tax2024 data file from Online TurboTax and then open it in the 2024 desktop software without starting over. If you decide to do that, we can tell you how to move the Online file to your desktop and continue using it and filing from the desktop software.
