I purchased turbotax 2024, Downloaded, and installed it but having issues opening the program. I keep getting the following message: "TurboTax error"..."Looks like we've run into an error"
i am actually doing the desktop version and i get the following messages while installing, and then after finally able to install the version 2024 i get the last message when launching the program

Please let me know how you were able to overcome this issue? I have tried all steps that TurboTax tech support provided, and nothing worked. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. I'm sure it was an update of some sort, because it worked earlier in the week.
Same here. Been using TT for at least 9 years, but now get the same stupid message. Looking at "active tasks" list, it doesn't seem to be closing, even after rebooting - there are rows and rows of TT tasks active. Maybe they think you should be on Windows 11? Customer service has no idea what the problem is - all Intuit wants is your money.

I tried calling Intuit helpline, spoke to a very nice lady who had no idea what the problem was: "it works on Windows 11" - Duh!
I'm guessing their tech guys are all on Windows 11 and assume everyone else is, except Win 11 needs a computer upgrade to work, and I ain't gonna do it.
I get the same error message, even after talking with four Intuit TurboTax representatives. I am very frustrated. I'll contact Customer Service again, for the fifth time, to see if I can finally launch TurboTax Premier 2024 successfully.
Sometimes, opening as Admin may help open the program.
Another possibility is that you may need to run manual updates. Here is an Article describing the process.
Hi - Many users, including myself, had the exact same problem. The following solution resolves the problem. Go to Microsoft's website and upload the following software: "Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version". Once you're at that software update section, they offer 3 links to choose from. I chose the 3rd one which is the "X64" architecture link. Since my computer already had the latest version, Microsoft gave me 2 options. To "Repair" or "Uninstall". I chose "Repair". Do that. After a few seconds, you will be prompted to "Restart" your computer. Do that. Once your computer is up and running, your Turbo Tax issue should now be resolved. This solution fixed my problem. This year's version is a turd. 6 hours of trying to get this piece of crap operating. It does not interface with Microsoft Edge at all
How do you turn off these f'n badge pop ups? Who cares? How does having these pathetic badges help anyone?
Don't know how you determined the issue was with the Microsoft Visual C++ but I followed your advise and it did indeed resolve the problem. Thank you for sharing your expertise. By the way, Intuit did not respond to my request for help.

I get the same message from Turbotax Business 2024 and Premier.
The Business license was installed early in January and it accepted the license and was working but will not work now.
The Premier installed last week but failed to open.
I did delete the premier program and reinstalled twice with no luck.

Responding to a question that was asked about my earlier post. I am using the Desktop version for Mac OS. I cleared the cache and cookies and have 700GB of free space. I deleted Turbotax and reinstalled it to verify the installation. It did not fix my problem where Turbotax will connect to "Wells Fargo" but not "Wells Fargo Advisors." Both companies are on the Financial Institutions drop-down.

When you see Wells Fargo Advisors in the search results window, try double-clicking on it. You should get the Sign In page.
I did, before posting this message. They gave me useless generic advice after an extended time on hold.
I don't remember the specifics, but if you Google this issue you will find instructions to update your Microsoft C++ installation.
That worked for me.
