I paid extra last year for security fraud protection, can I still use it? It didn't occur to me until I filed this year and paid extra for MAX. Fraud occurred in 2/2023

It depends.

MAX is actually an optional service that is purchased for each specific tax year and the service covers that specific tax year you purchased it for.  If you purchased the MAX option when preparing your 2023 tax return during the 2024 tax filing season, then it would still be covered.  Please see What is MAX for more details on what is included as well as instructions to get assistance.
