If you have already filed your return, and need to make changes, you will have to file an amended return.  The 2020 Amend feature in TurboTax should be available in mid-February.  However, you should wait until your return has been accepted, and you have received any refund you are expecting before amending.  Note - The IRS will not start processing e-filed returns until February 12.  For more information see the following TurboTax Help Article:

How do I amend my 2020 TurboTax Online return?

If you haven't filed your return and want to start over, see the following

If you are using TurboTax Online, you can edit/enter a Tax Form by following these steps:

  • If you're not in your return already, sign in to TurboTax and select either Review/Edit or Pick up where you left off.
  • Search for the form you want to change (e.g., W-2, 1099-R, etc. -- upper- or lower-case, with or without the dash).
  • Click on the Magnifying Glass icon (or just hit the Enter key).
  • Click the "Jump to" link highlighted in Blue.
  • On that form’s summary page, you can Edit (or Revisit) your current information.

If the change you would like to make relates to Deductions & Credits you can also do the following:

  1. Select Search from the top menu, and type in for example child care credit then Jump to the link that appears above the search results.
  2. Answer the questions to complete the section.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, here's how to clear and start over:

  • Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return, if you haven't already.
  • Select Tax Tools from the left menu, then Clear & Start Over.
