I'm using Turbotax Deluxe for 2018. Can't find how to apply 2018 overpayment to 2019 estimated tax. Please help.

To apply a 2018 Federal refund to next year's taxes (2019), try this:

  • Federal Taxes tab   (or Personal tab in the desktop Home and Business Edition)
  • Subtab Other Tax Situations.
  • Scroll down to Additional Tax Payments.
  • One of the subtopics is Apply Refund to Next Year.
  • It will ask you how much you wish to apply.

I believe a state overpayment you wish to apply to 2019 will be in your state interview.

Very helpful.  Just wish this subject was covered in the interview process.

It should be encountered eventually if one goes through everything in order, but people tend to skip around.  In that case the navigation is not intuitive.   It would be more obvious if at the end when choosing a refund method, it would just ask: "How would you like to receive your refund", and have that as one of the choices.

Agreed.  Adding a third option there would be the ideal place to have it.
