Many of the California state tax forms are not yet available for tax year 2023.
Go to this TurboTax website for federal and state forms availability - https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product=Turbotax_online&bu=cg
There is nothing for California on that link.
My Federal has been accepted but my state is still pending.
Would the lack of forms also cause this?
Pending indicates your state tax return is waiting to be pulled from the TurboTax servers by the state of California for processing.
I figured out how to get to the State of California forms availablity.
It shows my forms are available to print and efile so why is it not working in my desktop version?
Is there a patch for this? Do I need to redownload the program?
I still can't access the California files.
How do I contact support?
Same problem (Federal accepted, CA submittal pending since 1/20). Anyone find more info or resolve this?
Same problem...even on the most basic return with just one W-2 for less than 50K--and standard deduction--nothing else.

I was on the phone for about an hour they sent me me a new State to download.
It worked while I was on the phone then I exited and went back in I was back to the original problem.
I had to manually go on to the State of California website and do my taxes myself.
It was accepted immediately.
I purchased the download from Costco and never had this issue when I used the CD.
Turbo Tax associates have no idea what to do.
They told me wait till the forms are ready, I said until when April? They didn't have an ETA.
I will be requesting a refund for my efile fee they charged me and then reach out to Costco for a refund on their end as well.
This has been my experience. I wouldn't wait and go directly to the CA FTB website and file on there.
Not getting the state version again. Not worth the headache ot the extra money.
Here is their customer service number [phone number removed].
Good Luck!
Spoke with CS this morning. Tried very hard yo assist but couldn’t provide explanation or solution. Speculated state submittal may be timed with IRS stated acceptance date of 1/29 (even though my fed return was accepted 10 days ago…) and suggested I wait a day before digging deeper. Just received confirmation text that it was accepted (1/29 @ 0930PST)
Check this out:
For tax year 2023, TurboTax’s print feature becomes available when NETFILE opens on February 19, 2024. To print a copy of your return after that date, complete the following steps:
Never had that delay before.

The "Netfile" guidance is weird. I would ask, "Why?"
The user that posted that is from Canada and is referring to a Canadian tax filing procedure. They posted on the wrong TurboTax website.
Still can't print my California return even though I got a notification just now that it was accepted. Despite it still saying forms unavailable.
same here - federal and state acceptance confirmations received but unable to print the state return - anyone else other than this original poster
I checked this and it says the forms I need are available and ready to print.
You need to select the fed 1040 and then it allows you to select California.
Has anyone gotten a satisfactory response for this issue? Has anyone tried to use the competing product H&R Block Taxcut and knows if same issue over there? My concern is that while unable to print, I received confirmation that the state return has been accepted - I can't tell if this is an actual e-file issue that will delay the return/refund process or if this is a TurboTax local software print issue. Anyone?
Still couldn't print my California return as of this morning (1/30), but CA FTB says my refund is approved after pending/review yesterday.
As it was, I had strange errors when attempting to file early last week after TT made me pay $20 to efile for CA. After payment it brought me back to the tax program, but with bugged out pages with an endless "next" button and nonsensical strings of text where data should go. I thought maybe I just paid $20 for nothing. I had to reload the program because it was going nowhere. Starting it again it let me go through the process of e-filing and it acknowledged the $20 fee was already paid to e-file for CA. The returns were submitted on 1/23. Wouldn't allow me to print the CA return and that's where I still am now.
Not using TT anymore. I might have to request a copy from the franchise tax board, which is $20.
That link refers to just Canada? Not seeing that on the page...
Maybe the last response to this thread could provide some answers: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/re-unable-to-file-2023-federal-tax-form-using-e-file-i-keep-getting-a-message-that-i-need-to-ma/01/3153886
That link is for Canadian TurboTax and references "T-slips and Releves" which are Canadian tax documents. Note that the link is .ca and not .com.
This is the US TurboTax support page for "How do I print a copy of my tax return in TurboTax?"
Hopefully we can print it February 1st. Thanks for sharing.
