I'm pretty sure I qualify for Head of Household but TurboTax keeps insisting that I don't.

I am unmarried but have lived with my girlfriend for the last 11 years continuously.  She does not work and I pay for everything: property taxes, utilities, groceries, repairs, everything.  I have her listed as a qualified dependent in the TurboTax software, but TT keeps insisting that I don't qualify as HoH, but that I HAVE to file as Single.  Other filing softwares say I do qualify as HoH.

Who is correct?  There is a significant difference in the return of HoH vs Single, especially since I have my withholdings for my paycheck at a maximum of Single and zero dependents.

Your GF does not qualify to let you file  HOH.  You need a qualified blood-related

relative

like a child ,sister, brother, or parent, etc as your qualified dependent to file as HOH.

Am I Head of Household?

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your filing status (single or married filing separately) into Personal Info, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

Thank you.  The answer makes sense even if the tax code doesn't.
