1099 MISC is filled out under income section. The computer software will ask you questions and you answer or check off "I'll select what to work on" and you check off 1099 MISC.  It's easier to have software ask you the questions until you are familiar with layout

Where you report your 1099-misc income depends on whether the income was reported in box 3 or box 7. Follow the directions below if you have a form 1099-misc with income reported in box 3:

  1. Log in and open your return
  2. Click the Federal tab from the left side of the screen
  3. Click the Wages & Income tab
  4. On the next page, scroll down to see all income
  5. Click Show More beside Other Common Income
  6. Click Start beside Form 1099-misc
  7. Enter the information from your form 1099-misc. As stated above, the program will ask you questions about the type of income you received.

If income was reported in box 7 of form 1099-misc, then it must be reported as self-employment income. Follow the directions below if you have a form 1099-misc with income reported in box 7:

  1. Log in and open your return
  2. Click the search field, type schedule c, and click the jump to link in the search results
  3. On the next page, Answer Yes to the question, "Did you have any self-employment income or expenses?"
  4. Once you enter information to set up your schedule c, you will be prompted to enter your income.
