I have one 1099-MISC and it has amounts in both box 5 and 7--how do I add this when the programs says it can't be done together, can I just add the two together and add

Even though you only received one 1099-MISC, try entering it as two separate 1099-MISC; that is create one 1099-MISC reporting just the Box 5 amount, and a second one reporting just the Box 7 amount.  

Adding the amounts together could prompt a letter from the IRS.
