I have multiple Intuit accounts, how can I delete the ones I don't use?

Over the years they were created with various products.  But because how Intuit handles cookies and account linkage they are a proble.

There is no procedure to delete, close or merge a Turbo Tax  account since accounts may contain past tax information that needs to be preserved. You can just let it go dormant. To secure your account, log in to your Turbotax account by typing the address into your browser window, and make sure your browser shows a padlock icon or whatever symbol it uses to indicate a secure verified connection.  Change your password, and make sure it is not something you use on other web sites.  Change your security question to something that a crook could not guess from social media.  Make sure your email address and cell phone number are up to date as Turbotax may use that to help verify future attempts to log in.

You also have the option to turn on 2-factor authentication for all log-ins.  With 2-factor authentication, Turbotax will send a code to your email or cell phone when you try to log in. The idea is that only someone who knows your password and also has possession of your phone will be able to log in, this is more likely to be the real you.  Turbotax will use 2-factor authentication whenever you log in from a computer that turbotax does not recognize, but you can turn it on for all log-ins in your security settings.

If you started an online return you can delete all your info and abandon it, if you wish. Your account will still be available for you to use at some point in the future, as long as you use the same User ID and password. You could also indicate that Intuit emails are spam to keep them out of your regular email.

Here's how to clear out your return:

1.     Sign in to TurboTax Online.

2.     On the left side, click Tools. (Don't see the side menu on the left? Click here for help.)

3.     Click Clear your 2016 return and start over.

o   If you already paid, you'll get the message You cannot clear your return.

4.     (Optional) In the pop-up, uncheck the box Re-transfer my data after clearing if you don't want last year's data to transfer over.

5.     Click Yes to confirm

You would choose "Clear your 2016 return and start over", but then simply don't start over.

There is a new service being offered…it  is the ability to deactivate the account .... Contact support for a case number if you really want to put forth the effort to use that feature ....

Use the following TurboTax website to contact TurboTax customer service/support.  Support is open from 5am to 9pm Pacific time (8am to 12am Eastern time) every day until 4/19/16.

Submit your question/problem during business hours and then use the option for Call.
There will be some personal information gathered so a case can be created for you.  A phone number will then be provided, specific to your case, to speak directly with a TurboTax agent.

Note:  The Call option will not be available when TurboTax Support is closed.

You have to sign onto your online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the online account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one).  Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address.  Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If none of the user ID's received will access your account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

If you still cannot access your account, you can contact TurboTax customer service/support through their contact website during business hours.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for a contact link and hours of operation - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/3401489

Submit your question/problem during business hours and then use the option for Call (a phone number will be provided for Call) to speak directly with a TurboTax agent -

Note:  The Call option will not be available when TurboTax Support is closed.

Support can also be reached by messaging them on these pages https://www.facebook.com/turbotax/ and https://twitter.com/TeamTurboTax

You can not delete an old (or new) TurboTax account.

You can start using only one account and use that account every year. Having a single TurboTax account that you use for everything is the best way to go.
