If you worked as an independent contractor and do not receive a 1099NEC you still have to enter your self-employment income and prepare a Schedule C.   If you use online TurboTax you will need the Self-Employed version; if you use the CD/download you can use any version.

If your self-employment income was only from cash, personal checks, credit card payments, or cryptocurrency

Type Schedule C in the Search box and then select the Jump to link. This will take you to where you can enter any cash, personal checks, credit card payments, or cryptocurrency (Form 1099-K) related to your self-employment. You may first be asked some general questions about your business. After you answer them, you’ll be taken to the Let's get income for (your line of work) screen where you can enter this income as Additional Income.

When using the Self-Employment section of TurboTax there is a Cash option to select when entering Income if a Form 1099-NEC was not issued.

So if I received my money through checks can I still file the schedule c through TurboTax or does turbo give me a different form?

Yes still schedule C.   Actually you can just enter it as Other self employment income or as Cash or General income. You don't need to get a 1099NEC or 1099K. Even if you did you can enter all your income as Cash. Only the total goes to schedule C.
