I purchased the CD version of TurboTax 2016 and started the install process as usual. I slid the icon into the application tray and it downloads normally. When I attempt to open the program once downloaded, the TurboTax Icon bounces in the tray for a second and then closes/crashes. I tied to open via right clicking on "Open" and the same thing happens. I have deleted and downloaded three times and the same thing happens. I installed it on a PC work computer and it seems like the CD is fine. Any ideas? I am running macOS Sierra V 10.12.2
"When I attempt to open the program once downloaded..." What do you mean by that? Do you mean that an update downloaded and then the problem started?
No. When I initially tried to install from the CD. After it installed from the CD and I attempted to use open the program for the first time. Download was a bad term to use.
Well if the right click open did not work then be sure that the CD is not still in the CD drive. Then try restarting the Mac. If it still does the same thing then corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file. To uninstall, the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled.

The problem is with macOS Sierra version 10.12.3 The downloaded turbotax app from amazon.com will not open once downloaded. So, I am out the money I paid for the software download.
Now I will have to used another tax program to file 2016 taxes. I have used turbotax for years, but never again, unless they can get this problem straitened out.
There is no problem with TurboTax if installed correctly and there is no corruption in the download or files.

Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file. To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also
be reinstalled.

I have see a couple of users that got a bad download from Amazon and it worked fine when they got a download from TurboTax.
Actually I downloaded TT for Mac and TT IT specialists (0n my computer remotely) could not get TT pages to scroll. Supervisor suggested a refund (which I accepted) after an hour of their work unsuccessfully trying to get TT to work with Mac Sierra 10.12.4 (newest upgrade). They seemed to have no hope it would ever work, i.e. that TT download is apparently incompatible with Sierra 10.12.4. What other tax prep program has anyone found to be compatible with Mac Sierra 10.12.4?
TurboTax works fine for me with Sierra and there are no scrolling problems that I know of or have seen reported.
I spoke with the representatives at TurboTax this evening. The rep had stated that this was her 3rd call this evening regarding this issue. She had apologized and explained that TurboTax 2016 edition (only questioned the CD version) is no longer supported by TurboTax despite it being marketed, sold, and software requirements indicate compatibility with MacOS. She said at this time that there is no work-around and that if the product is purchased through them (Intuit) they could reimburse me for the costs. Otherwise suggested trying to find a person with Windows and install this on their computer. If this is not an option for others like myself, and the product was not purchased through TurboTax/Intuit, then it is not likely to be refunded by the retailer. Since the product is opened most retailers will not returned opened software. So lets hope Intuit fixes this mess, or this posts alerts others to the problem and STAY AWAY from purchasing this product if you are installing it on a Mac.
@aspicuzza2 - Of course the 2016 software is supported for the Mac and it works fine as long as yiu meet the system requirements.

macuser_22, I already meet the requirements and have been using TurboTax for 10 years now, and 3 years successfully on my Mac (which meets the same [general] operating requirements as last year. Plus the information I've stated is verbatim what was told to me by the support personnel from TurnoTax.
I will report this to the moderators so that agent receives coaching since what they told you is totally wrong. TurboTax supports all Mac versions as long as the Mac meets the system requirements.
In most cases the "bouncing" icon and fail to open is due to the reasons in this FAQ:
Bed sure that the user account has administrator privileges.

@aspicuzza2 The staff have verified that you were given incorrect information and the customer service rep will be retrained. We apologize for the incorrect info.
There are two main reasons that the Mac program will refuse to run; first, it will only run if you are logged in to an Adminstrator account. Second, there is sometimes a security permissions issue. The FAQ below in @TurboTaxGabi 's answer explains how to deal with this problem.

my turbo tax from Amazon didnt work at first, redownloaded and it worked for several days, and now it doesn't again. Mac 10.12.3
@frankmezz - What happens? If it worked and not does not, you might have computer problems - have you restarted the Mac?
Restarted desktop, restarted in safe mode, used laptop to duplicate problem (it duplicated), re-downloaded original app from Amazon, all the same problem. Error message finally said "could not locate library" Called Intuit and Brenda (high marks for Brenda!) spent an hour with me and the only thing we could determine is that Amazon provided a corrupt app. Intuit allowed me to download directly from them and problem solved.
I am experiencing the same thing. Brought a Turbo Tax premier download from Amazon in February. It worked fine and then I tried to open it on Saturday and it wouldn't open. Spent 2 hours on the phone with a rep and she finally pushed me a download. It does not work either. It opens up and shows that everything is updated and then quits unexpededlty . I have downloaded it 4 times and it does the same thing each time. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple on Sunday to make sure everything on my Mac was working properly and it is. This is very aggravating. I have used Turbo Tax for years without a problem and now after spending 5 hours this week end, I still can't open my return and finish it.
@vservice - Have you done a total uninstall and reinstall of *all* associated files? Simply re-downloading usually is not the problem - the problem is hidden in an associated file.
Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file. To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.

I followed the instructions above and downloaded it again from amazon.com and it works beautifully. Thank you very much!
Mike [removed]
I followed the instructions and deleted the files and reinstalled and emptied the trash again. I got the same error again so I rebooted and was able to successfully get turbo tax to open. However when I clicked on File/open recent and tried to pull in the file that I started a few weeks ago, I got the error message that said it shut down unexpectedly. Do you think my old file (that I was almost finished) is corrupt somehow? Do I need to start all over again? If so, should I just use the on-line version instead of loading it to my computer? I have never had this much trouble before. Thanks for you help.
