At this late date, I recommend you file for an extension.

Then we can work on getting your W-2.

 You can get an extension:

You must have a TurboTax account

  1. Click on the website  Free federal tax extension is now available
  2. Select [File Now]
  3. Log into your account
  4. Your screen will show Get started on your federal extension
  5. Follow the interview

Turbo Tax does not have a copy of your W-2, but there are ways to obtain it again.

Here are the steps to take to get your W-2.

  1. You can try to import it on TurboTax.  (See the process below).
  2. Contact your employer  Contact your employer to see if the W-2 has ben sent, and request a duplicate.
  3. Go online, many employers have an online service to provide document like W-2's.
  4. Contact the IRS:  If you could not get it from your employer you can contact the IRS.
    1. You can call toll-free at 1-800-829-1040 or contact a Taxpayer Assistance Center Local IRS Office.
    2. You can request a transcript
    3. You must provide your
      1. name,
      2. address, city and state (including zip code),
      3. Social Security Number,
      4. phone number,
      5. Employer’s name,
      6. address, city and state (including zip code), and
      7. employer's phone number

To import from TurboTax Online

  1. Sign into TurboTax.
  2. On the left sidebar Select Tax Tools
  3. On the drop-down select Tools
  4. There will be 4 green boxes
  5. Select Topics Search
  6. Type W-2
  7. Select Work on my W-2 and Continue.
    • If you've already entered a W-2 or need to add another one, select Add another W-2.
  8. Enter your Employer Identification Number (EIN) from Box b on your W-2.
    • If your W-2 can be imported, you'll come to the Great news! We can automatically import your W-2 info screen. Answer the questions to complete your import.
    • If TurboTax doesn't recognize your EIN you can use the TurboTax mobile app to snap a photo of your W-2, upload it from your computer, or fill it in yourself. As an alternative you can go to the main menu.
