I checked our transcript this morning and it had code 826 and 971. It's showing a balance of -$2,800 is this the portion we would get.

Need to amend our return for injured spouse should I wait until we get 2,800 before I do

Do not count on receiving that $2800.   If you owe back taxes or child support, any part of your federal refund can be seized--including that $2800 if that is what it takes to pay your debt.

If you need to prepare an injured spouse form:

They took the majority of our taxes for a old debt and left the -$2,800. We don't owe back child support. I think that the $2,800 is the recovery rebate. If I file the injured spouse form would it hold up the recovery rebate.
