I am trying to get my ten digit customer ID number to get a copy of my tax transcript from the IRS. Where do I find this?

The 10-digit Customer File Number serves as an alternative tracking number to match the transcript to the taxpayer for third-parties such as tax practitioners, lenders and college financial aid offices.

Leave the entry blank if you were not directed by a third-party to enter the number. 

I don't know what that means by "10-digit customer ID number."

  If you are trying to register an IRS account, here are the criteria needed to register as listed on the IRS website. 

 

You need:

• your SSN, date of birth, filing status and mailing address from latest tax return,
• access to your email account,
• your personal account number from a credit card, mortgage, home equity loan, home equity line of credit or car loan, and
• a mobile phone linked to your name (for faster registration) or ability to receive an activation code by mail.

I left the space blank as directed by this thread. My access for forbidden. Still looking to get a 10-digit customer Number from IRS.

You may need to create an account at the new IRS Online Portal.

You should first try entering all zeroes and if that doesn't work then you will need to register at the IRS for the 10 digit pin @BWATKINS84.

I have jumped through the hoops to get ID.me verification. I have followed every step recommended so far. I get a message telling me:

Access Denied
