I accidentally puy the wrong dates for the states I lived in.

So I lived in NY the first half of the year and NC the last half. However, I somehow flipped those on my taxes and said I lived in NC, then NY at the end of the year (my 2018 situation). Both states and the federal returns have been accepted and I've combed through the paperwork dozens of times now to make sure that was the only mistake. How do I fix this, and do I really need to fix it?

It might not make much of a difference money-wise, but it would be good to set the record straight and submit amended state returns for both NC and NY.  This way NY won't be looking for a return from you next year!
