How to upload the form 8962 for the premium tax credit using the online version? I was able to upload the 1095-A form successfully- the 8962 form was not generated.

The Form 8962 is completed by the TurboTax program after you have entered the Form 1095-A into the 2024 tax return.

To enter, edit or delete your Form 1095-A -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Medical
  • On Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A), click the start or update button

Or enter 1095-a in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1095-a

To clarify, I was able to upload the 1095-A form successfully. The issue is that the online version—not the software—does not generate an 8962 form. Is there no option for an 8962 form?

The Form 8962 cannot be uploaded since it is dependent on the Form 1095-A being entered into the program.

After you uploaded the Form 1095-A did you complete the 1095-A section in the TurboTax program?

Yes. I was provided with the annual total of the "advance premium tax credit"

Are you completing a 2024 tax return or are you answering an IRS notice you received for a prior tax year?

If an IRS notice see this TurboTax support FAQ - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-forms/got-12c-letter-irs-form-8962/L78Qyi5gK_US_en_US?uid=m6guukea

I was completing my tax return. I figured out the problem. On the 1095 form, I had some months where zeros were listed. The system doesn't recognize zeros. I had to leave it blank on months where zeros were entered, and then it generated the needed form. Thank you!

This problem happens when you don't include Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement. It also happens when the information on the form doesn't match what the IRS has in their database. When something's missing or mismatched, your return gets rejected.
