I mistakenly lumped the amount I spent on exchange expenses into the existing mortgage/liability relinquished as part of sale. I would like to separate it as cash received to offset the expense incurred.
I presume you used TurboTax for the original return? Online or desktop?
You most likely simply need to start an amended return.

Without more details (exactly where you are in the program), it would be difficult.
