the IRS requires a w-2 be attached when mailing in an original return.   so you should contact your employer for a replacement or pay the Social Security Administration to send you out a copy. You'll have to contact them.

there is a form 4852 if an employer never sent out the form and you have made all efforts to get it including contacting the employer and then the IRS so it can contact your employer.  this is not your situation.

So I’m assuming I make a copy of this years W2 since I have to mail one with my state and federal taxes? I also want to know if I mail the entire W2 or tear of parts of it?? Does the order of the papers matter? Does the envelope matter?  All of this is new to me I’ve never done it before and it’s kicking my rear

It’s also frustrating because I don’t have access to my W2 from last year so I can’t E- File. I also can’t prove my identity to the IRS to get the transcript from them because I don’t have a credit card or student loan etc. I also can’t afford to wait a long time to receive the funds since I’m mailing all of this in now.

It sounds as though you are looking for your last year's AGI.

The IRS requires your 2019 AGI to verify your identity for e-filing. If you're paper-filing your return, you won't need your AGI because those are manually processed.

There are a few places you can get your 2019 AGI:

  • If you filed your 2019 taxes with TurboTax, sign in and go down to Your tax returns & documents. Select View adjusted gross income (AGI).
  • If you didn’t file your taxes with TurboTax in 2019, the best place to get last year's AGI is from the 1040 form you filed with the IRS. Look on page 2, line 7. If you filed a 1040NR, it'll be on line 35.
  • If you're having trouble locating your 2019 return, the second-best place to get your AGI is from the IRS. You can order a free transcript of your return at the IRS Get Transcript site or you can purchase a full copy of your 2019 return. Both versions will include your AGI.

If you didn't file a 2019 federal tax return (or you haven't filed one yet), enter 0 as your AGI.
