How do I get a 1040-SR to fill out? Do I need to complete 1040-SR if I do 1099?

If you are 65 or older the form that you print out will be a 1040SR---which is identical to the form 1040 but with larger print.   All the lines are the same; all the calculations are the same.

And...yes you will be using a 1040 if you have a 1099 of any kind.   There are almost two dozen kinds of 1099's---what kind do you have?   1099R?  1099G?  1099B?   SSA1099?   1099NEC?   1099DIV?  etc etc etc.

A 1040 is the tax return form you prepare here to send to the IRS.   If you start entering data in this software you are preparing a Form 1040.   Please look at it so you will know what you are sending to the IRS:

When you enter your 1099s and Social Security SSA-1099 into Turbo Tax you are filling out the 1040 or 1040SR.  That is the tax return you send to the IRS.

The 1040SR is EXACTLY the same as the regular 1040 just bigger type so it prints on 3 pages instead of 2.  They both use the same instructions and tax calculations .  You automatically get the 1040SR if one spouse 65 or older.
