You can securely import your W-2 if your employer is a TurboTax Import Partner. Enter your employer’s EIN (Employer Identification number) and the software will determine it based off that. If not, you will have to enter them manually. To see if your employer is partnered with TurboTax follow these steps:

  • Sign in to your TurboTax account
  • Click on the Take me to my return button.
  • Click on the Federal Taxes tab (on the left menu bar)
  • Click on Continue, then Start
  • Click on Work on my W-2 now on the W-2 Screen.
  • Enter the 9-digit Employer ID Number if you have it and click Continue.

You can also import your 1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-OID, or 1099-R into TurboTax, provided your broker or financial institution participates in our TurboTax Partner program. If not, you will have to enter them manually.
