You will need to call the number below.  This is a number only for IP Pin requests.  Most taxpayers don't need an IP PIN — the IRS only issues them in select cases.

If you know you need an IP PIN to file your taxes and you lost your CP01A letter (or never received it), you can:

  • Retrieve your IP PIN online at the IRS's Get an IP PIN site; or if you can't verify your identity,
  • Call the IRS at 1-800-908-4490 to have your IP PIN mailed to you (this can take up to 21 days)

We're unable to issue IP PINs and you won't find them on your tax paperwork. You can only get IP PINs from the IRS.

Then you only have two options -

1.  Get the information requested by the IRS to verify your identity

2.  Print and mail the tax return

See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return for mailing - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online...

First you need to find out how much you made if you didn't make certain amount by law you're not required to file(meaning u don't have to file it. If this is the case then go too turbo tax stimulus edition and file there i would also still consider mailing your tax return tho this may take a while, but its added security to your stimulus. Hope this helps if not we're all screwed

Still doesn't work, I got denied for my stimulus because I didn't have my IP Pin. It does not make any sense that the IRS is closing their calls which clearly the people need thier assistance on. Ridiculous to rely on an online self service which is clearly outdated.

In short we are doomed.

The IRS is launching a site for taxpayers like yourself to update banking information:

IRS Get My Payment

There is also a site for registering if you are not required to file a return:

IRS Non-filer link

Who told you they weren’t excepting mail The irs is very firm on their identity theft protections and will only take forms such as change of address And 1099 through mail .though this is a long process it’s the only way to get it done. I mailed mines

Print your Return and mail with a change of address

after two or three days go to stimulus portal with turbo ...sign in and follow directions

*stop saying the irs are not taking mail and start mailing might not get your taxes as fast but stimulus will be given as long as they know where to send it IP PINS REQUIRE A MAIL IN RETURN and will go through extra process to ensure identification was met

I tried over and over to get one. I tried to register with the IRS thru the same email address as last year they do not recognize me. I did move since spring 2019 is that why? I was told during the Covid lockdown IRS is not issuing pins now. Help! I want to get my stimulus payment direct deposit and am not sure if I gave bank info last year

I'm having the same problem everywhere I turn is a dead end. I've tried the new portal and it rejected me because of the ip pin, I tried the tool to retrieve your ip pin online but I enter all the information and it just says "for your privacy we've logged you out please restart your browser or login to continue" this is bs they need to address this immediately and dedicate a few people to verifying identity

Nobody can help with that.   Only the IRS issues IPPIN's and if required the IRS will reject.

You have three options:

1) Wait.  The filing date is July 15 (or Oct 15 if you file an  extension but pay any tax due by Jule 15). By then maybe the IRS will return to normal.

2) Print and mail the return. but note that the IRS is not processing mailed returns at this time.

3) Go to a tax professional who can personality identify you and have you sign a e-file release, then a IPPIN is not necessary.

It does not.  See my answer above with the only 3 possibilities.

Nothing works. Ip pin tool doesn’t verify the correct info. Even if you looking directly at a statement with the correct info. It doesn’t verify. Can’t call to get a new one mailed. It’s site says they are not accepting paper returns. There I’d a tool to file for stimulus payment but only if you haven’t made over 12k. Soo pretty much your screwed. In a state of emergency the government only gives assistance if you filed a return. Natural disasters/ pandemics are emergencies why do it matter if I filed or not . People have bills, kids, sick parents, car notes, mortgages, rent etc to pay.
