How can I fix a typo in the 1099 DIV recipient address - online version only?

During a TT review question, I mistakenly typed the wrong recipient (mine) address.

How can I go back and fix it?

I am using the online version only (no Desktop).

thanks!

You can go back and delete your Form 1099-DIV and reenter it with the correct address using TurboTax Online.

To delete Form 1099-DIV, you can do the following:

  1. Open/continue your return
  2. Click on "Search
  3. And in the search bar type"1099-DIV"
  4. Select "Jump to 1099-DIV"
  5. It'll take you to a screen that shows your Form(s) 1099-DIV that you have entered.
  6. Next to the Form 1099-DIV you want to delete, click on the (down-Facing) caret
  7. Click on the "garbage can" to delete this form

You can re- enter your Form 1099-DIV into TurboTax as follows:

  1. Click on "Search" at the upper right of your screen.
  2. Enter "1099-DIV"
  3. Select "Jump to 1099-div"
  4. Answer "Yes" to "Did you have investment income in 2024?"
  5. Select "Skip Import" on the screen that asks "Let Us Enter Your Bank and Brokerage Tax Documents"
  6. Select the box that says "Dividends 1099-Div" (the box will turn green with a checkmark on it)
  7. And "Continue"
  8. Enter your 1099-DIV information and select "Continue"
  9. Answer the follow-up screens about your dividend interest

I have uploaded 8 forms DIV. I do not remember the one where I typed the wrong address.

How can I check which one has the wrong address, before deleting it?

I would like to avoid deleting all 8 of them just because one is wrong...

You can simply select edit beside each one to see the address you entered, if it is correct continue through the screen until you are back to the page showing all dividends. Then select edit beside the next one, continue until you see the one that should be corrected.

It's all right to proceed without the change. You can feel confident to file your tax return because it's not a required entry and it may not even be part of the e-file portion of the return. You do have your documents should they every be needed and it's not likely.
