Hello! I tried to import my 2016 H and R block (.t16) file into turbotax premiere over the weekend. I had all of the latest updates installed.

Use TurboTax for Windows Desktop to transfer last year's tax data file from H&R Block into this year's TurboTax software.  

• TurboTax Online and TurboTax for Mac supports PDF transfers if anything other than TurboTax was used last year (H&R Block, an accountant or tax service etc.).
• TurboTax Mobile and TurboTax Business do not support PDF transfers.

Click here to transfer H & R Block or Tax Act tax data file to TurboTax for Windows Desktop.

Click here to transfer another provider's (H&R Block, TaxAct, Accountant, CPA, etc.) PDF file to TurboTax Online.

Click here to transfer another provider's (H&R Block, TaxAct, Accountant, CPA, etc) PDF file of last year's return to TurboTax for Mac.

Note: The following type PDF files may not transfer to TurboTax Online, and may need to be entered manually:

• A password protected pdf file or
• A pdf scanned copy (verses an electronic pdf).

Hello! It looks like I should have been able to transfer the H and R Block data file but it did not work for me.

My filing status, name, address and SSN did not transfer correctly.

A data file transfer can only be used with TurboTax Desktop for Windows. If you are preparing your return using TurboTax Online you cannot use your datafile, you should use an electronic PDF file from last year's tax provider (as detailed above).

Hello! I am using the Windows download version on a laptop, not TurboTax on the Internet. I was only using this platform to ask what could be wrong. I think I read another user also trying was to import to TT windows from H and R Block data file. I imported my son's and daughter's files with no problem but not all patches. I waited to import mine because I was looking at whether I needed to amend 2016 and I did.
