First time filing a tax return and I received a 4883c letter. How do I verify if I never filed before? I was claimed by my parents for the previous years if anything.

Would they just ask questions from the tax return, or would they ask for my parent's tax return? Also, I noticed a mistake on the tax return so if I do manage to verify, is it possible for me to ask them to disregard the tax return?

Please see the link from the IRS website below explaining what is needed to respond to Letter 4883c.  This will be information about you and the return you filed.

If you made a mistake on your return, your only option is to file an amended (corrected) return after the one you already filed has been processed and you have received your refund, if any.  (This is because sometimes the IRS catches errors when they are processing your return, and they correct them for you.)

I have included instructions on how to Amend My Return
