Filing by paper - Date format when signing for federal tax return

When filing by paper, do I need to use date format MM/DD/YYYY when I sign my federal return or MM/DD/YY is just fine? There does not seem to be enough space for MM/DD/YYYY.

The 2-digit year, MM/DD/YY, is fine and perfectly acceptable.

Hi! What if I dated M/D/YYYY? I already sent the form if this isn't acceptable, do I send it again or do I have to send an amendment?

Leave it alone.   The IRS cares that you signed your name to the return.   They have more important things to worry about than whether you used a perfect format for the date you signed it.
