Filed 1040Ez for minor dep. with a job.Our efile returns were rjctd stating kid filed with self as personal exemption - and we filed with him as a dependent.

Our minor child's 1040EZ return was accepted, he has a part time job.  Our return lists him as a dependent, which he is.  But our return (husband/ wife) was rejected noting we claimed him as a dependent but he already claimed himself as a personal exemption.

Can we re-file our taxes via paper with a note explaining that the child's return claiming personal exemption was a mistake?  Should we refile his return, which was already approved, noting he is not claiming personal exemption.

Me makes 100s a year. we make... more. Want the exemption on our taxes, not his.

Yes, if he mistakenly did not say he could be claimed as a dependent, he needs to amend his tax return.

Yes, you will need to file by mail claiming him.
