"File" on the menu bar not responding or late responding (20+ seconds)

Turbotax Deluxe program didn't respond or took 20+ seconds to respond when I click the "File" in the menu bar and tried to save the tax file in the middle of preparing the tax return.    Alternatively, I clicked  "X" on the  upper right corner and saved the file before exiting the program.  It's a cumbersome way of backing up the progress.

 

I am running Windows 10 and the PC is not loaded with other programs.  Of course, I have tried restarted the PC several times.

 

Is this an known issue and is there a solution?

I have the same issue and reported it to Turobotax by phone, the week of 3/13/23.   My problem occurred after doing an import from a broker.   If you start a new return without an import, the problem does not occur.  This is problem is linked to importing data from a broker and seems to only occurs on tax files that did the import from selected brokers.

I'm currently on release [phone number removed].  Why would I want to go back to release R19?

Release most recent release 22 ending in 0479.  Turbotax incorrectly removed the release number from prior post, thinking it was a phone number.

I contacted TurboTax customer support last week regarding this issue.  The first representative I spoke with hung up on me.  The 2nd representative was attentive, but unfamiliar with the issue.  We did a live session where she shared my desktop.  She consulted with a technical person who did not seem to understand the issue.  The issue was noted with no solution currently available.

I have done 3 returns (our own, 2 daughters').  Only our own tax file has the "File" button issue.  One of my daughter had imported data from a same broker as ours (hers is much simpler of course).   I thought it was the sizes of the tax files that made the difference.  Just my guess.  I did all the updates every time I opened the TurboTax program.

These sound like some of the issues that folks have had with importing their cryptocurrency transactions.  If that is part of the issue that you are having then delete that imported brokerage statement and this is the workaround here (scroll to the end).

The problem I'm experiencing with the 'File' menu started after an import from my broker.  I do not have any crypto transactions.  I suspect the issue is related to importing data from a broker.
